OUR
UPCOMING 2008-2009 CONCERT SEASON:
On
December 15, 2008 we will present our end of the year Holiday Season
concert (as we have traditionally done for years):
CHEERS TO THE FUTURE at the beautiful residence of Elizabeth and Lewis
Bryden at the Des Artistes Apartments. Unique and young talents will be
featured including the exciting 18 year old Israeli flutist, MARON
KHOURY and the fabulous 10 year old "wunderkind' pianist POONY POON will
amaze us with her surprising mature artistry. A festive Holiday
Reception will follow the recital

On
January 22, 2009 we shall open the New Year with our "HUNGARIAN FANTASY"
program to be held at the elegant Hungarian Consulate at 227 E. 52 St.
featuring the outstanding Hungarian cellist, ISTVAN VARDAI, who is
coming to us directly from his performance in January with the Budapest
Philharmonic and the young and spectacular pianist, ROMAN RABINOVICH in
a program of Liszt and Bartok. The concert will be followed by a
delightful Hungarian Buffet Supper Reception.

On
February 23, 2009 we once again have the pleasure of presenting a
program at the wonderful residence of Ambassador Sakurai of Japan ,
called "A SPRING SONG FROM JAPAN" where we shall feature the brilliant
pianist NAOMI KUDO, this year's winner of the Gilmore Young Artists
Award and EMILIE-ANNE EMIKO GENDRON, outstanding violinist. The concert will be
followed by a special Japanese Buffet Reception

On
March 18th, 2009 we plan to officially celebrate our TWENTIETH
ANNIVERSARY of the Salon De Virtusoi with a GALA BENEFIT DINNER-CONCERT,
where our Guest of Honor will be the famous pianist and former Dean of
the CURTIS INSTITUTE - GARY GRAFFMAN. We shall also offer a program performed
by fantastic young artists we have discovered including some of SALON DE
VIRTUOSI CAREER GRANT winners as well as the wonderful pianist, FREDERIK
CHIU and the great clarinetist. ALEX FITERSTEIN.
It will take place at the glamorous SONY CLUB, the penthouse
atop of the Sony Building! A wonderful formal sit-down dinner will
follow the concert.

OUR
PAST 2008-2009 CONCERT SEASON
On
October 27, 2008 we opened our TWENTIETH SEASON with our GALA AWARDS
Concert and Presentation at Steinway Hall. We celebrated by
awarding Career Grants to 5 of the most outstanding and deserving
talents who appeared for us during the 2007-2008 Season. This was an
especially festive event with a great concert performed by these winners followed by a Buffet
Supper Reception. Our M.C. as always was the noted Bob Sherman of WQXR.
Since we inaugurated our Fellowship program in 1995 we have endowed a
wonderful group of remarkable young talents with $300,000 in grants.

PAST 2007-2008 CONCERT SEASON
On
May 27, 2008 we added a special concert to our Series. It took take place at Merkin Hall and
was gratis for our members...We featured the superb Spanish guitarist who was a former Salon De Virtuosi
Career Grant winner, PABLO SAINZ VILLEGAS.

On
Thursday, April 10, 2008,at 7 PM. we were delighted to present the
renowned Hungarian Pianist ERNO FEHER at the elegant Hungarian Consulate
on East 52nd Street.
He performed a fascinating program by Hungarian
composers including his acclaimed interpretation of the Liszt Sonata.
The concert was followed by a Hungarian Buffet Reception
at which the fine Hungarian cimbalom artist, Gorcsi Farkas Robert performed.

On
Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at 7PM. we celebrated the 60th Birthday of
the State of Israel with a special concert held at Steinway Hall.
We featured three outstanding Israeli artists: The exciting Two
Piano Team of VARSHAVSKI-SHAPIRO and the wonderful cello protégé of
Aldo Parisot, INBAL MEGIDDO. The concert was followed by a
Festive Reception.

On
Wednesday, February 27th, 2008. we presented our
"Japanese Artists Concert" at the exquisite residence of Ambassador &
Mrs. Sakurai of Japan. The artists featured the fantastic
Violinist and winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition, MAYUKO KAMIO
and SOICHI MURAJI, a remarkable guitarist.
A
delightful Reception followed the concert.

Our
Series continued on January 23, 2008 , at KOSKIOVSKY INSTITUE on E.
65 St, at 7:30 P.M.
co-hosted by the brilliant TEATRO GRATTACIELO where we presented a
unique performance combining excerpts from the autobiography of the late
renowned soprano LINA CAVALIERI (who sang with Enrico Caruso at the
Metropolitan Opera) plus a delightful concert featuring INNA DUKACH,
soprano, in scenes and arias from Manon Lescaut Mephistofele and more;
The concert continued with a Chamber Ensemble composed of String
Quartet, pianist Mark Cogley, and Sally Foster, Harpist .

Monday, December 17, 2007 we presented our end of the year concert
at the beautiful duplex Apartment of Elizabeth and Lewis Bryden at the
Des Artistes Apartments at 1 W. 67 St, The featured artist was the
exciting Roumanian pianist MATEI VARGA, a winner of the George Enescu
Competition. We also presented the unique Indian-American Saxophonist
ASHU whose repertoire includes great classics, Tangos and contemporary
works!

Tuesday
November 20th marked our nineteenth anniversary and at that time we opened our Series with the "Gala 2007 Grant Awards" at Steinway Hall
where once again we celebrated by awarding Fellowship Grants to
the most gifted and deserving artists who performed for us this year.
ALLESIO BAX, a unique Italian pianist and recent winner of the
prestigious Leeds Competition was the winner of the Salon De
Virtuosi Sony Fellowship Grant. ERNO KALLAI, a young Hungarian violinist
and Protege of ITZHAK PERLMAN won the Valerie Beth Schwartz Career
Grant. BELLA HRISTOVA, dynamic Bulgarian violinist won the Salon De
Virtuosi Meidar Career Grant.
The winners performed and received their awards; Robert Sherman, noted
musicologist of WQXR was our M.C. for this occasion. This was
followed by a festive Buffet Reception. Since we inaugurated our
Fellowship Program in 1995 , we have endowed a wonderful group of
remarkable young talents with $228,000. in Grants . This does not
include the awards we gave on November 20, 2007!

Due to unpredictable circumstances we will
sadly have to cancel the May 7 concert this year. We have had 6
wonderful concerts this year and that is about what we promised at the
beginning of the season. See you next season!

Our final concert of this
season will take place on May, 7, 2007 at 7 P.M. and will be held at the
lovely apartment of Mr.& Mrs. Bryden at the Des Artistes Apts. at 1 W.
67 St. Since the Indian Consulate is unfortunately not available this
May, since they are housing and entertaining a large Mission from India
which will take up most of the month of May, we will have to wait for
next season to find a suitable date that will be possible for both the
Consulate and the Salon. We will be presenting a most remarkable
Indian-American Saxophonist, ASHU, with a varied program of Debussy,
Rachmaninoff, Piziola Tangos and more unusual works for the saxophone.
A Reception will follow the concert.

Tuesday, April 17, 2007. we were delighted to present two superb artists, VIRGINIA LUQUE, noted student of the legendary Guitarist, Segovia, and the
brilliant Pianist, ALESSIO BAX, recent winner of the prestigious LEEDS
Competition in a delightful program called "WITH STRINGS ATTACHED". This
was held at Steinway Hall. It followed by a Dessert and
Wine Reception.

On
Thursday, March 22, 2007, we again
presented our " Hungarian Fantasy" at the beautiful Hungarian Consulate
227 East 52nd St. We presented the young Hungarian Protégé of Itzhak
Perlman, ERNO KALLAI in an exciting Springtime program of virtuosic
masterpieces for the violin. It was followed by a charming
reception.

On Tuesday, February 20, 2007
we held our yearly concert at the glamorous Polish Consulate, 233 Madison Avenue. We presented the
internationally well known 19 year old Polish-American pianist, ADAM GOLKA and young Violinist, BELLA HRISTOVA, first Prize winner of the
International Enesco competition in Romania. A delightful Polish
Buffet-Reception followed the recital.

On
January 23, 2007 we opened the new year with an outstanding event
presented at the elegant residence of Ambassador and Mrs. Sakurai of
Japan, featuring a former Van Cliburn winning pianist , JON NAKAMTSU We also presented the
fine young FLUTE QUARTET composed of: RIRIKO OKADA, flute; AYUMI
TAKESHIMA, Violin; CHI CHI BESTMAN, Viola; YVES DHARAMRAJ, Cello. They
played the beautiful Mozart Flute Quartet in D Major K285. This
was followed by a Japanese style Buffet-Reception.

December 13, 2006
the Salon again presented an exciting Holiday Recital at
the beautiful residence of Mr.& Mrs. Lewis Bryden at their Des
Artistes Duplex Apartment at 1 West 67 Street NYC. We presented the
young
outstanding pianist, ANG LI. We also presented the phenomenal
Chinese Bamboo flutist, CHEN TAO The performance was followed by a
festive Buffet.

On
October 17, 2006 the Salon De Virtuosi opened their seventeenth
season with a GALA AWARDS CONCERT held at Steinway Hall.
On this very special occasion Five Career Grants of $5000 each were
presented to the five most deserving talents who performed for the
"Salon" during our 2005-2006 season. The winners were: Kyung-Jun Kim,
Young Korean violinist;...Mihai Marica, Rumanian cellist, protégé of
renowned Aldo Parisot; Chen Reiss, Israeli Soprano, who often
co-appears with Zubin Mehta, Yevgeny Kutik, Young Russian Violinist;
and Amit Peled, Israeli Cellist. A festive Buffet-Supper Reception
followed the concert.

OUR
PAST 2005-2006 CONCERT SEASON:

On
May 15, 2006, we presented our closing concert of the season at the
elegant Indian Consulate at 3 East 64 St, at 7 PM. called" Sounds of the
East and Sounds of the West" where representing the WEST we presented the fabulous Marimba artist, NAKURA MAKATO, and for the
EAST we presented SADHANA PARANJI a Baratnayam dancer and the wonderful Sitarist ANUPAMA BHAGWAT with
NITIN MITTA on the Tabla. This was followed by the usual
wonderful INDIAN BUFFET SUPPER RECEPTION." |

March 2, 2006 we were delighted to present the famous JUILLIARD STRING
QUARTET and PHILIPPE QUINT, violinist, a former Salon De Virtuosi
grant winner. They were our guest artists for our important BENEFIT for the support
of our FELLOWSHIP FUND. It took place at the glamorous SONY CLUB,
the penthouse atop of the Sony Building, and included a lavish sit
down dinner for our guests. We had a full house for an
extraordinarily successful concert!

On
January 26, 2006.at 7:30 we were delighted to present a special event. .
. a concert sponsored by SAMSUNG ELECTRONICS AMERICA...and co-presented
by Salon De Virtuosi and the Sejong Soloists. It took place at the
exciting and new TIME WARNER BUILDING at Columbus Circle at the "SAMSUNG
EXPERIENCE" Featured was a young prodigy, KYUNG-JUN KIM, violinist with
WONMIN KIM at the piano.

opened our 2005-2006 Season on October 18th 2005 with our
traditional "GALA 2005 AWARDS" event held at STEINWAY HALL where
we once again award the year's most outstanding artists with our

brother & sister duo violinists played as did our other winners ANDREA
LAM, Australian Pianist; MARK KOSOWER, cellist protégée of JANOS

OUR
PAST 2004-2005 CONCERTS SEASON:

On May 10, 2005, at 7 PM. we presented our final
concert of the season: "SOUNDS OF THE EAST AND SOUNDS OF THE WEST" at
the beautiful Indian Consulate, 3 East 64th St. (the former Astor
Mansion.)
The artists featured were STEVE GORN, Bansoori
artist (Indian Bamboo Flute), who has just performed the background
music for the prize winning film ,"Born Into Brothels", representing
the EAST and PABLO SAINZ VILLEGAS, classical guitarist , who very
recently received a standing ovation at the Metropolitan Museum
concerts, representing the WEST. The concert ended with
beautiful presentation by SONALI SKANDAN, a dancer of the
Bharatanatyam tradition.

On
March 7, 2005 our concert was held at the glamorous Polish Consulate
presenting a recent First Prize winner of the QUEEN ELIZABETH
COMPETITION from Belgium, violinist BAIBA SKRIDE accompanied by her
sister LAUMA SKRIDE, and winner of many other prestigious competitions
as well. They presented an exciting program. The concert was followed
by a Buffet Dinner-Reception. |

On
January 18th, 2005, we had the great pleasure of presenting a special New
Year concert at the beautiful residence of Ambassador and Mrs. Ando of
Japan. The featured artists were the remarkable
violinists, brother and sister team of AMY and RAY IWAZUMI. We also
presented the excellent koto artist MASAYO ISHIGURA.

On Wednesday January 5th at
9pm Bob Sherman replayed on WQXR our October 19th concert
(link there) where we
introduced our Grant Winners. It was a great opportunity to hear
again such talented artists. |

November 18, 2004, we presented a delightful program at the
beautiful Hungarian Consulate, featuring the 15 year old violinist, ERIC SILBERGER and
MARK KOSOVER, Cellist
and protégé of the renowned JANOS STARKER. We also presented SANDOR
KUTI, one of Hungary's outstanding Cimbalom artists, who performed
romantic folk music, which inspired many great composers including Franz
Liszt and his Hungarian Rhapsodies! This was followed by a
Hungarian Buffet Supper Reception. |

October
19. 2004, marked our 15th Anniversary, and at that time we opened

Hall, where once again we celebrated by awarding SIX FELLOWSHIP
GRANTS from $3000 to $5000. each. The following artists
received these prestigious Grants: ARNAUD SUSSMAN, young violin
protégé of Itzhak Perlman, JESUS CASTRO BALBI, cellist and student of
Aldo Parisot, ALEXANDER FITERSTEIN, clarinetist, ALON GOLDSTEIN,
pianist, KENNEITHIA MITCHELL, soprano, and JAMES LENT, pianist. (Since we
have inaugurated our Fellowship Program in 1995 we have endowed a
wonderful group of young talents with $178,000 in Grants including the
Grants to be awarded on Oct. 19, 2004.) The winning artists performed and the concert
was followed by a festive Buffet Supper Reception. |

The Salon De Virtuosi Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit society dedicated to the
discovery and support of extraordinarily gifted international emerging musicians.
We
have, since 1985, when we established our fellowship program, awarded $230,000
in grants to amazingly talented young artists, many of whom who have achieved international

Founded in March
1989 by the concert pianist, Charlotte White a former student of the legendary
Josef Lhevinne, the Salon De Virtuosi has been presenting an outstanding array
of superb artists in a series of six concerts each year. They are held at
elegant and intimate venues that recall the old world salon, such as Steinway
Hall, the Indian, Polish, French, Hungarian, Japanese, Canadian and British
Consulates as well as prestigious clubs, such as the Sony Club, the Lotos Club
and Caspary Hall at Rockefeller University.

this our 14th season we continue to emphasize the INTERNATIONAL theme by
presenting the most promising emerging talents from different lands who perform the
great works of classical and contemporary masterpieces. We also introduce ethnic
instruments and music to which western audiences have had limited exposure. This
is followed by an ethnic buffet-dinner reception where the social exchange
between artists and members creates an unusually stimulating experience and an
immersion into new cultures and worlds.

support that every artist needs
encouragement. a sympathetic and discerning ear, plus
the enthusiasm for the task of finding the future GREATS.
