A student of the great pianist Seymour Lipkin, Lora holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts from Juilliard and has been praised for her musical intensity and virtuosity. She also has extensive experience as a music pedagogue and concert presenter, with deep connections in both the classical music world and the diplomatic community. In Loving Memory

Charlotte White

1914 - 2017

Dear Friends,

We usher in the Salon’s new season with a mix of emotions: deepest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support following the passing of my mother Charlotte White, Founder of the Salon, just a few months short of her 103rd birthday, and renewed dedication to fulfill her legacy by ensuring that the Salon continues to thrive.

My mother's message at her 100th birthday celebration was that the secret to a long life is not a special vitamin or exercise, but to have a reason to wake up in the morning and to have a passion. The Salon was her passion, and her mind never ceased thinking up new ideas for concerts she wanted to present, exciting young musicians she wanted to introduce, and ways to impart her vivid personal experience of how music truly unites us. She shared her abundant energy and passion with her family, friends and members of the Salon, and I know her light will continue to shine on
